2024年、エチオピア・シダマ地方の東シダモ、ベンサ・ウォレダに位置する生産者、アルマズ・グジョ・エルギソ氏が栽培したナチュラル・プロセスのシダモコーヒーが、Cup of Excellenceに出品され、スコア87.04点で26位に入賞しました。

このロットには、品種74158が使用されています。この品種は、エチオピアのJimma Agricultural Research Center（JARC）にて、コーヒーベリーボーラーディジーズ（CBD）への耐性試験を受けたもののひとつであり、選抜育種によって耐病性を強化された系統です。正式に認可・配布されたのは1979年で、当初はGera、Jimma、Illubaboraなどエチオピア西部での栽培が推奨されていましたが、現在ではYirgacheffeやGujiといった南部エリアにも広く普及しています。

ちなみにこの74158は、2020年に開催されたエチオピアCOEで優勝した実績も持ち、注目度の高い品種のひとつです。
